Feature Article – Jeffrey Jerald

WARR10R™ had a chance to speak with Jeffrey Jerald from Martin County High School (Stuart, Florida) at the 2009 Mt. Dew UF Cross Country

Invitational. He attended our WARR10R™ Running Camp at Webber International University, located in Babson Park, Florida this past summer.

Jeff Jerald

Below are a few questions that WARR10R™ asked him.

WARR10R™: Take me through your race at this past weekend's Mt. Dew Invitational.

Jeffrey:  I got out to a fast start establishing my position and coming through the first mile at 5:15. I lost pace a little in my second mile, losing a few positions but still managing a descent two mile split of 11:00. I came on pretty strong in the last mile, gaining a few positions back and surrendering a 6:00 last mile which wasn't too bad considering the treacherous hills in the last half mile. I came across the line in 39th place of 267 runners with a time of 17:31.

WRC:  What school do you attend and what year are you?

JJ:  I attend Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida and I'm class of 2010!

WRC:  How many years have you been running?

JJ:  I am now entering my fourth year as a competitive runner

WRC:  What are your personal best times for xc and tf?  When?

JJ:  My personal best in xc is a 16:58 which I ran this past season as a junior at the district meet at St. Cloud High School. I also managed a new PR in all my track events last year as a junior with times of 2:05 in the 800, 4:44 mile, and a 10:14 two mile time.

WRC:  What are your goals for the season?

JJ:  My goals for the season are a little undecided, but we'll just say I have high expectations for myself!

WRC:  Which WARR10R Running Camp did you attend?

JJ:  I attended the individual WARR1OR Running Camp at Webber International University in Florida.

WRC:  What did you like best about the camp? J

J:  It's hard to say what the best aspect of camp was because honestly everything is so much fun. The trails we run vary in difficulty and are always scenic. There's always something to do at camp for fun, whether it be tubing, swimming, ping pong, pool, poker, basketball, or just napping in your free time! The second workouts are always something to look forward to, especially in the pool with Coach Hill. The food at Webber is absolutely AMAZING! And most of all the people you meet, Webber really is such a good camp because of the people you meet. The training is taken seriously yet so is the playing. The best part is the team competitions...you get to play volleyball, kickball, dodge ball, ultimate frisbee, knockout, crab soccer, and the Great Race!

We want to thank Jeffrey for speaking with us and we wish him the very best this season.
